We have a new registrar, Ms. Naoko Toyama who is responsible for enrolling our students, and assisting them with their visa.
We will also welcome a new staff member, Ms. Suzy de Souza, who comes from Portugal. She will be able to assist our Portuguese speakers at any time!
One of our great English teachers introduces himself to you:
"My name is Adil and I am delighted to have joined GEOS this year. I was born in India, grew up in New Zealand, and studied in the USA and in Canada. Before coming to GEOS I was at the University of Toronto where I taught literature classes. I fell in love with Montréal one summer (as many of you have and surely will) and moved here permanently in 2009. One of the most fun things at this school is working with students of different levels - I've had the chance to work with levels 1, 3, and 5!
When I am not working, I play tennis, cook, ride my bike on warm summer nights, and practise my French.
I look forward to saying hello when you arrive,if we haven't already met."
"Bonjour,
Merci Beaucoup."

Our first school activity of May was a bowling night on Friday, May 6. On the following Friday, the students went on a smoked meat tour with one our awesome English teachers, Ian.

The next Friday, we enjoyed the summer breeze of Montreal on Mont Royal. We had the privilege of a sunny day in a rainy season and had great outdoor fun. Unfortunately, the rain finally hit us on the last Friday of May and terminated our boat tour on La Bateau Mouche. We may schedule another tour on La Bateau Mouche in the future if it is the will of our students.
In this newsletter, we are offering you a peak of our upcoming activities in June! On the first Friday of June, we are visiting the planetarium of Montreal for the unusual visual experience and to explore the mysterious field of astronomy. After this, we are hitting the Montreal Beer Festival on Friday, June 10. The Beer Festival is a unique cultural activity of the Western world, so we would like to introduce it to the students who are from other parts of the world. On the following Friday, we will be dinning in one of the finest sushi restaurants in Montreal, Odaki Restaurant Japonais. Montreal is one of the not many cities in the world which offers high-quality sushi for a decent price. This will be a rare opportunity for students who do not get this chance in their hometowns. As the last Friday of June is an official holiday and a day off for GEOS Montreal, we have scheduled our activity of that week on Thursday. On Thursday, June 23, we will go see the famous sound and light show, “And Then There was Light,” in the Notre-Dame Basilica. The Notre-Dame Basilica is one of the most beautiful Roman-Catholic churches in Canada; people from all backgrounds and religions will enjoy the visual appeal of its art and architecture. With the sound and light of “And Then There was Light,” the Notre-Dame Basilica becomes a place for the highest aesthetical enjoyment.
