Welcome to our Newsletter of April! It is still a pleasure to work with students coming from all around the world. Everyone can learn a bit from the culture of the other. We are still impressed with the enthusiasm and happiness of our students to come to school to increase their language skills. And we are definitely proud of their improvements. The following month will be busier as the previous one since we wait of holidays group. One will come in May for a week.
On the topic of internship programs, a information session will be hold twice a month at 17.30 at GEOS Montreal to inform our students. To inquire about the date, have a look at our activities calendar that you can find on our website. For further information, contact the school.
At the end of this month, we graduated, in addition to a few students, our lovely intern Feny, who brought a lot into our company. She helped us a lot with many things. We are going to miss her a lot. As well, our French teacher Alice, as lovely she is, left in order to teach in the military service. She has contributed a lot to our school. We wish her all the best. But it is pretty sure that it will not be her last days at GEOS. She will come back. A warm greeting to Yasu, who stay a couple of weeks in Japan. We are waiting of his coming back!!!
Again and always, please keep in touch, become or join our Facebook group and feel free to insert pictures to share your experiences with your friends.

The month of April is already over. Time with us flies so fast, you have to enjoy every minute at GEOS Montreal. April was marked by the first rays of sunshine and we enjoyed them. We went for an ice skating tour, which was really funny. Then, we also went for a smoked meat sandwich tour. A smoked meat sandwich is basically beef brisket that has been cured, spiced and smoked. We were very lucky because there was no line at the most famous smoked meat shop in the world, called Schwartz. We could immediately savour our sandwich with French fries and a cherry coke. Actually, GEOS students occupied the whole place for almost one hour. Nobody else could enter in this tiny place.

April was marked by an other event that occurs only twice a week. And we understand why! Our students could get a free ice cream during the whole day of 21th by Ben and Jerry’s. Our students got two or three free ice creams each during the day. After good news, comes the bad news. Our hockey game team lost the series against Boston. That was a sad day. We will do better next time, hopefully!

Welcomed to the month of May symbolizing the beginning of spring. What is better than starting a new season in a great city like Montreal with all its cultural activities. During this month, many activities will be offered. Fridays will be marked by a few activities such as cinema, laser quest, bagel tour, ice skating and an excursion to the little Italy of Montreal. For people who don’t know what a bagel is, it is the moment to discover it by joining us for the bagel tour. A bagel is a bread product traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring. And warm with cheese cream it is so tasty! Then the laser quest is the good place to shot your friends without hurting them not like paintballs that give you a few bruises. And this is the opportunity to test your shooting talents. The tour in little Italy will be followed by eating in a tasty restaurant. So, if you want to travel just for a while in Italia and enjoy the great Italian atmosphere, join us for this event.

Three other events should not be missed in May. First the wonderful Tulip festival from May 1 st to May 18 th. The Canadian Tulip Festival claims to be the world's largest tulip festival with more than 200 types of tulips bloom, with attendance of over 500,000 visitors annually. If you want to participate in this event, it is the right moment to do it and at the same time to visit the Parliament Hill, The Rideau Hill.
Then from May, 20th to June, 4th, the Transameriques festival: an International Festival in Montreal combining both contemporary dance and contemporary theater. If you are keen on Dance or theater, you don’t want to miss it.
The third event is being held on May, 31st permits you, thanks to the Museum’s day to discover all museums in Montreal for free. This means that you will have a busy day considering the number of museums in Montreal.
In addition to these events, you can enjoy many concerts, exhibitions since Montreal is the best place for it. Or, you can just take an easy going life and relax. Enjoy drinking a beer or a coffee on a terrace are nice things to do in May.

I introduce Boain, the teacher of the month:
We are very proud of our Nationality mix for this month. Currently we have 24 Nationalities represented in the school among our 164 students
You can take a look where our students are coming from: Europe: 20% Canada:16% Mexico: 11% Korea and Colombia: 8% each Japan: 10% Brazil: 5% Russia: 7% U.S.A: 2%
Others: 14%

My name is Andrea Lee and I’ve been working at GEOS Montreal for the past month as the Academic Coordinator.
I graduated from McGill University with an Education degree in Teaching-English-as-a-Second-Language. So far in my career, I’ve had the amazing opportunity of teaching in Montreal and in several different countries in East Asia. Having experienced so many different cultures and languages while living abroad, I knew that I’d thrive in an energetic work environment where I can continue to interact with students stemming from different nationalities. Luckily, I found GEOS!
As the Academic Coordinator, my job is to meet the academic needs of both teachers and students and to ensure that our language programs run smoothly. So, if you have any issues related to anything that concerns your academic wellbeing at GEOS, please feel free to contact me and I’d be more than happy to help you!

This a couple of nice people, explaining a bit their stay in Montreal. "It's just another day in the life of Beng and Mel in Montreal. For the past 5 weeks we've been attending GEOS and honestly it's been one of our most fun time we've had since whenever :O) Every morning we wake up excited to face another day of learning and experiencing new things, together with our newly found friends at GEOS.
We're usually not the very first to be in the class each morning, so it's always nice to have some of our classmate greet us cheerfully when we open the door, with their new French, "Bonjour, Cava Bien?"
Being in GEOS has surely extended our network of friends all over the world, for example, in our class alone we have 4 Mexicans (learning plenty of Mexican jokes already), Brazilian, Austrian, Canadian, Japanese and 3 Australians (including ourselves). WOW!!! Not to forget our Morrocan, Bulgarian and Algerian teachers, also French, Haitian and Quebecois staff member... HELP!!!! our address book is exploding... We've been saying to each other it's amazing how much faster someone can learn something totally new, given the right learning environment: great teachers, accommodating facilities, friendly staff members, and great friends. Mel wishes she could do this for much longer and have started to feel sad about leaving GEOS already. As for Beng, we hope the feelings he has for GEOS is mutual because he will be here for a very long time :O)"
